Kurta is a type of shirt which is widely worn in many countries in South and Southwest Asia. Kurtas are very popular in India and worn by both women and men. I have seen many different kinds in various colors. I especially love seeing beautiful kurtas on women in India. Kurtas seem to be gaining more popularity outside of South Asia such as in Europe and in the U.S. and I also like those kurtas that have received some western influence.
I found this white kurta at ZARA in Mumbai when Zara had a big sale in August this year. I had been wanting to get one for a while, but the ones of which I had liked the designs in Mumbai were expensive, believe it or not, so I have never bought one until I saw one in white at ZARA which was on sale! I wonder if the same kurtas were sold in Europe as well.
I love Kurta for its light weight, comfort, and beautiful embroidery. Not all of kurtas come with embroideries, but I especially like kurtas with Indian embroideries. I find them beautiful.
In India you see many people in traditional clothing. One of the things I enjoy here in Mumbai is seeing women’s fashion. You see many women in saris/sarees and kurtas with scarves. The color combinations you see in India are just amazing. Especially the women in sari/saree walking down the street look so elegant and beautiful.
By the way, what do you do with the strings on both shoulders that are there for a hanger? I noticed the string sitting outside of my collar after I downloaded the photos onto my computer. What a disappointment! I have kept the strings on my shirts and blouses, but often times the strings come out when I wear a shirt with them. I do try to put them inside, but sometimes they come out and I forget to check if they are tucked in or not. I have cut off some of them. Do you?

Love the white kurta! I think it’s only available there as I don’t recall seeing it in the Zara here in Manila. I hate the strings sticking out so I cut them as soon as I get home from shopping 🙂 missing India now, your posts make me want to book a ticket back!

Michelle, thank you so much for the comment!!! I just started cutting the strings on my shirts recently because I seem to not manage to notice when they are out. I can’t even keep my shirt from getting food stained… I hear great things about Manila and it’s one of the cities I would love to go!
