There are so many wonderful cafes and restaurants in Bali. The food in Bali, in this case, Ubud is delicious, the design of restaurants are natural yet stylish, and most restaurants are casual with many outdoor seating areas. The best of all, the prices are right. I love how peaceful and relaxed Ubud is, too.
Among many choices for our lunch on our last day in Ubud, Kara and I picked Warung Sopa. Warung means “stall” in Bahasa Indonesia and Sopa is a Spanish word for “soup”. The co-owners are Japanese and Spanish nationals. I was instantly appealed to this restaurant by the fact that this was owned by a Japanese couple and a Spanish person. It’s a healthy vegetarian deli cafe that offers variety of vegetarian dishes from Indonesian to Japanese to some Western food. The restaurant has a lovely island ambiance and it made me feel that I could be there for hours.
Kara and I ordered a lot and shared our food. I loved their home-made tofu, which Kara picked out. It reminded me of tofu from Okinawa, the island my husband and I lived for 2 years with our two girls. I also loved the vegetarian taco rice. The soup and home-made bread were amazing, too. Kara and I both loved everything at Warung Sopa!
Warung Sopa might be the most baby and kid friendly place I have ever seen. There is even a baby crib for you to put your baby so that you can relax and enjoy food at Warung Sopa. There is a little kid corner where your kids can play while waiting for the food to be served or if they finish before their parents. When I saw the play area, I thought of my kids and missed them as I was traveling without them. If I travel with them, they require a lot of work and it’s no longer a vacation, but if I leave them at home and travel with friends, I miss them. Funny how mind works.

Here’s a map in case you would like to know where it is located. Our Bajaj (ba-ja-i) driver had a hard time finding the restaurant. If you have a working iPhone in Bali, it might help you navigate to the restaurant. I put heart marks on the streets that I enjoyed shopping. You probably wouldn’t need my help to figure out that Jalan Hanoman and Jalan Monkey Forest are main streets in the central area of Ubud for shopping, but just in case.
Kara and I walked to the main street, Jalan Hanoman, from Warung Sopa and it only took us about 5 minutes from the cafe. It was a nice walk and I enjoyed taking some photos on the street.
