I waited over 2 years to be able to dine at Toyo Eatery. My expat friend who helped me acclimated to Manila introduced me to Toyo Eatery back in 2018. Then I heard about it from a few other expats. I tried to book a table for our wedding anniversary in 2019, but I waited too long for a reservation. Months went by, then the pandemic hit. After having waited patiently for many many months for the city open up, finally my husband and I made it to Toyo Eatery. It was definitely worthwhile to wait. I indulged in every second we spent at Toyo like I didn’t want the night to end.
Toyo Eatery is located in The Ally at Karrivin in Makati, which I wrote about in 2018. The Ally is on Chino Roces Avenue, a street with many hidden gems. One of them is an interior shop Fashion Interiors.
Toyo Eatery is one of the top restaurants in Manila that I recommend especially to expats and travelers to go in order to experience the Filipino cuisine. All the ingredients are sourced from the Philippines. The cooking method or presentation may not appear traditional. Nevertheless, the way every dish was created and presented was well thought through and entertaining. This is a type of foreign experience that hits my sweet spot.
In addition to the food, the stylish industrial modern interior design and the hip BGM added to the mood and the whole dining experience. Was it expensive? Yes. However, for one of a kind experience and a special occasion, you won’t regret splurging on the experience at Toyo.
I hope you’ll enjoy the virtual culinary experience at Toyo Eatry in this post and maybe decide to go yourself.
We all tried a sampler course. It was something like a 9 course menu and we walked away full. Toyo Eatery change their menus every so often. You may not see what we ate, so I will let you visually explained through my food photography. I must say that the course menu we had was not for vegetarians, but they also have a la carte. If you love seafood and pork, this will be your food heaven.
The desserts were divine. My favorite dessert may be the caramel ice cream. To die for!
I kept my mask in a case made of shells provided during the dinner.
The staff was kind and friendly. I will say this many times, but what I love about the Philippines is the amazing people. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience!!!
