The holiday season has officially started and a half or more than a half of the expat community in Mumbai seem to have left to go on vacation.
If you have visited my blog last week, you might have seen a badge like this below that I displayed on the right column about the Expats Blog contest. (I have already removed it as the voting time was closed.)
My entry is the 10 differences to know about expat living in Jakarta, Indonesia and Mumbai, India.
AND
I would like to thank you, Melany, Betty, Mani and Veronika, for your time to leave me a comment on Expats Blog website during the contest!
I participated because I thought it would be fun.
Then once all the entries had come published, and I realized that basically it was a popularity contest, I wished I did not enter. I don’t need to be in a popularity contest other than those created by the social media that we are already in.
However, to find out that my friend in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Melany of wanderlust and wonder found me in the contest which she also participated (here is her entry) and left me a comment shed a light into my dark feelings.
Then I received Veronika’s comment which blew away all my blues about blogging that I have felt lately.
Her words reminded me of the reason why I started blogging in the first place.
I have been blogging for over 3 years. It’s hard not to feel obsessed about the stats. However, I need to keep reminding myself that what’s more important is the content.
Thank you, Veronika, for your enthusiastic support. I am grateful for it!!!
Thank you also to those who come visit me on a regular basis and spend time to leave me your comments. Your comments always warm my heart.
They become my motivation to blog better and more.
It’s true!

Hey don’t let that Expatsblog thing get you down – I also did not enter after I saw last year that it is about getting as many of your mates as possible to vote for you. It has nothing to do with the quality of your blog or the writing (which is tops!) and should be ignored. I have no respect for that site or the competition.. Keep blogging Kaho, you brighten my week, several times a week!

Hi, BombayJules! You’re right on spot and thank you for your kind words! I will do my best to keep blogging! Thank you for coming to visit my blog! I do enjoy posting my photos with a little writings. I am always impressed with how you manage to explore in India, write about various things about its culture and city, and attract more and more audience to your blog.

Kaho, I understand how you feel. It’s hard not to look at those stats everyday, but I am so glad to have met you via Expats Blog. =) And making those connections with others around the world is part of the reason why I enjoy blogging too. Have a wonderful holiday with your family. Looking forward to seeing what’s in store for you in 2014.

True about meeting you! I am glad I found your blog because I saw you on the Expats Blog Contest. Without it I might have not met you. Looking forward to getting to know you better in 2014!

Even though I don’t always leave a comment, I always read your blog! I subscribe to A LOT of blogs and your is the one of the best one’s out there. Very well done and your pictures and presentation blow me away.
Blogging is sometimes more about what the writer gets out of it. My co-author wrote an article about ‘blogging for therapy” (not that you need therapy LOL) it’s actually healthy to blog!

Keep it up Kaho! You bring pleasure to many readers!

That being said, please don’t feel obligated to leave me a comment! You’re one of the readers from whom I have felt the support and who have given me a reason to keep blogging.

I blog because it’s fun for me, otherwise I won’t do it. It seems it’s fun for you too! That’s all what matters. 🙂 Blog can connect us to our friends or the unknown, which makes it more exciting. Happy New Year soon, Kaho! Hope 2014 will bring us more happiness. 🙂

I agree with you. I continue to blog because it entertains me and adds incentive to do somethings that I wouldn’t otherwise. I am fortunate enough to have the luxury of time to do it. Down the road, not in the near future, though, when I might have to start working, I wonder if I would continue doing this. Thanks for reading! Happy 2014!!
