Tanba ☆ Previously Bochi Bochi ☆ Japanese Restaurant in Blok M Jakarta

☆ ”Bochi Bochi” was renewed and opened as ”Tanba” in March, 2014. According to some Japanese blogs, Tanba is in the same building with the same interior decor as Bochi Bochi, but it offers new dishes on a new menu.

☆　ブロックMにある「丹波」和食レストランは、２０１４年３月に以前のぼちぼちから新装開店したそうです。丹波は、ぼちぼちと同じ場所、内装ですが、メニューの方が変わったそうです。ぺんたのジャカルタ生活というブログより情報を得ました。

I heard that Bochi Bochi was closed in 2014, which made me super sad because my family and I used to go to Bochi Bochi all the time when we still lived in Jakarta between 2010 and 2013 and loved their food. Then I learned that Bochi Bochi was renewed and became Tanba. I hope Tanba is as great as Bochi Bochi or even better and many people in Jakarta will enjoy the restaurant. If one day we can come visit Jakarta, I would love to be able to visit Tanba!

Being Japanese, I feel the need to know a good Japanese restaurant in town. I do get asked about good Japanese restaurants in Jakarta or wherever I am. In Jakarta, I know several places that we like to go to. Please scroll down to the bottom for my personal recommendations.

Here is my new favorite Japanese restaurant in Jakarta: Bochi-Bochi. I would definitely go back and I can’t wait to bring my husband there. I had lunch there with my two lady friends. One of them was Japanese who told me about this place. I have been to Papaya, a Japanese grocery store, but I have never known that there was a Japanese restaurant right around the corner from Papaya! I absolutely loved having lunch at Bochi-Bochi. My friend said Bochi-Bochi made her feel like she was walking into a restaurant in Tokyo and she was right. You forget where you are because of the authentic food and ambiance.

日本人だと、やはり日本食レストランは欠かせない存在ですよね。こちらでよく外国人の友人からも和食レストランのお勧めを訊ねられたりします。いくつか私のお勧めレストランはあります。興味がある方は、このページの一番下を参照して下さい（英語で失礼します）。

先日女友達3人でぼちぼちへ行きました。一緒に言ったお友達が紹介してくれ、一回行っただけでとても気に入ってしまいました。いつも行っている日本のスーパー、パパイヤからは目と鼻の先にあるのに、全く知りませんでした。友人は、ぼちぼちは東京のレストランに居るみたいとおっしゃっていたのですが、まさにその通り。雰囲気も良く、どこに居るのだか忘れてしまうような内装でした。しかもお味も美味しくって、感激でした。

I was there for lunch. Below photos are the examples of what you can have as a lunch set. The first one is a double carb set. You can pick two kinds of rice or noodle dish from a menu for IDR 79,000 a set. The second one is a 3-plate set. You pick 3 small dishes which come with a miso soup, rice and condiments. It is also IDR 79,000. I have never seen anything that is better priced that these and best of all, it was delicious!

お昼を食べに行ったのですが、お昼ご飯は下の写真のような感じのものがあります。上の写真は、ダブルで炭水化物のセットで、どんぶり物や麺類のメニューから２種類選べ、お値段はなんと79,000ルピア。もう一つは３皿選べるセットで、メニューからおかず３品を選ぶとご飯とみそ汁と漬け物が付いてきます。こちらもお値段はやはり79,000ルピア。この値段でこのボリュームとは。こんなお得なレストラン、ジャカルタで初めてでした！絶対また行こうっと。今度は夫を連れて行かなくっちゃ。

Recommendations for Japanese Restaurants in Jakarta, Indonesia
For a special occasion i.e. anniversary
We like Basara. Lunch at Basara is reasonable and good. Many business people go there. They have private rooms you can reserve for a group for no additional charge.

Sekitei in Hotel Dharmawangsa is really nice. It has a great ambiance, plus walking through the hotel itself is a treat. It is a great place for business as well. The lunch menu is reasonable.

For casual dining with a family
There is a place called “En” above Kamome, a Japanese supermarket, on Jalan Melawai. (Jl. Melawai Raya No. 189 B, Kebayoran Baru, Jakarta Selatan, INDONESIA 12160) Also above Kamome, there are a ramen place and Japanese curry rice restaurant.
