Spinkie Baby
Spinkie Baby is an international brand of kids toys and decor that has roots in the Philippines. Spinkie’s products are seen in the nurseries of Khloe Kardashian, Lauren Brant, Tania Lyell Wood and more.
I had an honor of attending the Spinkie Baby’s launch in the local market of the country of its roots, the Philippines on October 19, 2019. If you would like to know how Mutya developed Spinkie into its current global brand, I recommend you reading this article, “Why even Khloe Kardashian supports this mompreneur”.
How I Learned About Spinkie Baby
I featured my Filipino friend, Ayessa’s home in April 2019. While I was photo shooting, I noticed the adorable stuffed toys and pillows she had in her home.
Ayessa told me that it was her Filipino friend’s brand called Spinkie Baby. I fell in love with the stuffed toys. When my Japanese friend in Manila gave birth to her second daughter here, I bought two stuffed toys from Spinkie for her newborn as well as her older toddler. I felt that it would make a perfect gift for them knowing that they were originally from the Philippines.
Launch Event For Spinkie & Spinkie Wear in The Philippines
Here are some photos to show the design of the Spinkie’s launch and homecoming event. The display of famous canopies and teepees created a dreamy space.
He is a son of my very good blogger friend, Ayessa, who introduced me to Spinkie. She is a blogger on Undiplomatic Wife and a founder of Minimalux, a decluttering business.
You’ve got to love this kid. He has the best sense of humor for his age and always cracks me up.
The installation of the Spinkie’s decoration with new chandeliers on the fashion show stage was amazing.
Fashion Show
My girls are almost 15 and 12. I remember the time when my girls were still very little and I was able to dress them up in frilly skirt and pink clothes. One of my favorite kids clothing brands was Gingersnaps, which was also from the Philippines. While I was watching the show, I couldn’t help but feel a bit nostalgic. Kids grow up so fast, don’t they?
How Spinkie Was Born
Mutya and her husband, Jinggoy Buensucesso are the founders of Spinkie. Mutya was on maternity leave with her first child, Mayumi, when the idea of stylish kids and baby toys was born. At the time, she and her husband were living in Singapore for her overseas job assignment as a global brand director for an international corporation.
When Mutya and Jinggoy first launched the business, they started selling their products on Etsy. With her experience in marketing and branding in corporate world, she researched the market and established her brand in Australia and England. Within a short period of time, Spinkie has grown into an international brand that is well known among design enthusiasts and celebrities.
It seems to me that the key to the success in her business was market research for her products. Her impeccable sense of design and aesthetic and her artist husband’s support seem to have contributed greatly as well. I felt honored to hear such inspiring success story from the founder herself.
