I feel fortunate that Asian food restaurants are widely available in Mumbai. Singkong is a contemporary Pan-Asian food restaurant located in the heart of Khar West. Someone told me that the name Singkong came from the combination of Singapore and Hongkong. Singkong’s food is definitely Chinese inspired Asian food and I hear that the Chinese food you can get in Singapore and Hongkong is the top notch. Singkong is on the first floor above another great restaurant called Sancho’s which is a Mexican food restaurant, which is one of our favorite restaurants in town. I went to Singkong with my friend back in September 2013, but it took me this long to write about it. It is simply because back then I had a lot of posts to write about from my time in Indonesia and after that the time got away from me.
At Singkong several dishes I tried were quite spicy, but I thought they were great. I am sure they have some dishes that are not spicy and great for kids to have. In fact, it was my friend who introduced me to Singkong said her children love Singkong. Their dishes tend to be more on the salty side, but I find it quite common in Mumbai. I liked Singkong for overall experience and I would definitely go back.

I love ordering food on Sunday night when I don’t feel like cooking and it’s great to have an Asian food delivery option!
Please ask Singkong to which areas they would deliver take-out orders.

Hi Kaho, I realized that Singkong means Cassava in Bahasa Indonesia. Now I am thinking probably the owner is an Indonesian, and the face of the chef looks like an Indonesian too! 😀

How interesting! I forgot to mention (I might add) that they named after Singapore-Hongkong. So, it might be a very coincidence! I love learning that singkong means casava in Bahasa Indonesia! Thank you!

Yum! This place looks delicious! That gyoza-looking dumpling looks great. What’s that yellow sauce?
Kaho says
I wasn’t sure what it was, but I want to say it was like mango base sauce. Don’t quote me on this!
