This is my 100th post!! Yay!!
I had lunch with Japanese women today at Sekitei, Japanese restaurant at Hotel Dharmawangsa. Even though I’ve seen this hotel from outside, I have never knew how gorgeous this hotel was until we walked in the hotel. You can see some photos of the hotel below. It was truly an oasis in the city of Jakarta. The quiet hotel lobby and the pool area allowed me to escaped from the hustle and bustle of Jakarta. The restaurant was quiet. If you walk into this restaurant, you would wonder if it would be okay to have a lunch at a fancy place like this with small children like my second daughter’s age which is two. Even though we had some boisterous children, the employees at the restaurant didn’t make a fuss about it. I ordered lunch special combo with three small dishes which came with rice, miso soup and a small plate of fruits as a dessert, and it only cost Rp. 100,000 (about $10). With an additional order of ice green tea, tax and service, it ended up being around Rp. 120,000 ($12).
It was an occasion for me to meet some Japanese moms. I met one of them at a shopping mall near us. I walked up to her as she looked Japanese to me and was with a little child of my second child’s age. I have wanted to meet Japanese moms with young children who have been here for a while to ask a few questions. When you move overseas, you tend to get gravitated towards the people from your country not only because do you feel comfortable, but also that’s the effective way to discover what’s where and where to find information regarding Japanese stuff. It was only a week or two after our arrival and I was eager to meet Japanese women. She was really nice and gave me her information. Several days later, I emailed her to ask questions and she kindly set up a lunch gathering with her friends for me so that I can meet more Japanese women. It was truly a nice treat to have a chat with other Japanese women while I indulged in my Japanese dishes at the elegant restaurant. Now I’m curious what other restaurants are available there. I am now a new fan of this hotel.
I found out yesterday that my layout on the right sidebar was changed. Now there is no space between the images on the sidebar. I didn’t touch it at all, so the host provider or the company that made the design must have done something to change it. I know that if I pay for the service, these changes on software or whatever would not affect my blog design, but I don’t feel like it’s a good enough reason for me to start paying. Just yet. Any advice?

I’ve been meaning to write my post on Sekitei. So far for us it’s the best Jap we’ve had in Jakarta, but we haven’t been to that many places to be honest. It was our first time to go last November, and it’s funny bec we went for our anniversary dinner, then decided we wanted to try the lunch specials so we went again the next day! LOL!
How did you find the food? Is it authentic?

I find the food pretty good. I love their lunch special. Totally reasonable with a nice luxurious ambiance. I think it’s a hidden gem. How funny you went back for the lunch the following day. That’s cute!
