The other day I had a moment where I thought, “How did I not know about this?” In a good way. My dear friend who grew up in Metro Manila took me out to Tagaytay. One day in January this year she casually asked me if I wanted to go out for lunch. So, I said yes. Thinking we’ll go somewhere in the area as she’s my cool neighbor. Then, the next thing she asked, “how about we go to Tagaytay?” What? That’s easily an hour-and-a-half drive from Manila.
She remembered that she and I talked about going out to Tagaytay. This was a year ago. My COVID brain didn’t retain that talk and I had completely forgotten about it. A year or so after that conversation, she drove me and another friend all the way to Tagaytay for lunch followed by a spa time. I was touched by her kindness. Before having left my house, I felt a bit of anxiety about leaving my kids and drive down south for an hour and a half for a day trip. I mean, I hadn’t been away for that long and that far from them in the last year.
Believe it or not, I felt guilty going because of my kids. Nevertheless, I’m so glad I made the trip.
QIWELLNESS LIVING
Stepping into the lobby of Qiwellness Living spa felt as though I walked into a different realm. The whole experience at Qiwellness Living made all of the difficult time, anxiety, worry, and whatever cluster of mess I felt in 2021 dissipate. This may be a little bit of hyperbole, but not too far. I am surprised to hear myself say this, but after all 2020 was not too bad if this was what was waiting for me at the other end.
This is not to disregard the mental health issues that people are going through due to the pandemic. All this was to say that getting out of my sheltered comfort zone was scary for me, but it was rewarding. A little bit of treat to your mind can go far.
This view! The island you see is Taal Volcano!
Whoever picked the location and designed this spa are brilliant.
We checked in and filled out contact tracing forms.
How cool is the design of this space?
It was a type of place where I asked myself, “Where am I???”
This one little corner with metallic stools were the showstopper to me.
A koi pond!
This was the view I had when I was on my belly. Yes, I grabbed my camera while I was getting massaged, determined not to fall asleep. Every moment counted although I realized I’m not much of a massage person.
Peek-a-boo! Feeling refreshed and blissful.
POST MASSAGE TEA
We’ve got to spend a bit of time relaxing and chatting after our massage session. It was nice that we didn’t have to pack up and leave right after the spa time.
TAAL VOLCANO
It was surreal to see Taal Volcano from this close proximity. This area had been considered a danger zone and banned for entry for many months after Tall Volcano had erupted on January 12, 2020. It’s wonderful that businesses in Tagaytay have been allowed to open again.
Good-bye Qiwellness! It was nice to know you!

I’m also so fond of Tagaytay. I miss it very much. I’m living in KL now as a blogger, too. I wrote about Tagaytay also here on my The Travel Peoples blog: https://www.thetravelpeoples.club/2020/11/make-your-day-go-to-tagaytay.html. (The mirror site is also in WordPress— the original one— but I have not updated it yet.)
