PR Paradise Road
PR by Paradise Road in Colombo Sri Lanka is a beautiful fashion concept store. PR belongs to the Paradise Road group. Paradise Road is a group of companies and a brand that has 6 retail outlets. It is a leading design brand in Sri Lanka with products in home ware, fashion, handicrafts, antiques, and gifts. PR is the newest of them.
Paradise Road was founded by Udayshanth Fernando in 1987. He is the current Chairman and Head of Design at Paradise Road, Paradise Road Group of Companies. If you are interested, please read more about Paradise Road on their About page where I learned about their store. The PR shop was launched by Annika Fernando, a daughter of Udayshanth Fernando and opened in December, 2013.
As I walked into the PR store with my two kids (one was sick in bed back in the hotel with my husband), the beautiful clothing, jewelry, accessories, natural bath products, gifts and some homeware items displayed in a gorgeous white and grey interior of the store welcomed us. I instantly fell in love with the store. I could’ve stayed there for hours to look at their products.
This is beautiful Annika, who is the managing director of PR, in the photo above. I asked her who was working at the store if I could take photos of the shop and she was very sweet about it. She told me that the clothing brand MAUS is her fashion line. Annica told me she was from Sri Lanka, but I recognized the word as German, so I asked her why she used the word, MAUS, and she explained to me that her mother was from Europe and has called her and her sibling MAUS, which is the origin of the name.
Thank you, Annika, for allowing me to take photos of your gorgeous shop. I loved visiting the store and you’re one of the reasons why I want to come back to Colombo!

When I started telling friends that we would be traveling to Sri Lanka at the beginning of January 2016, some of my friends gave me recommendations. I remember someone mentioned Paradise Road a while back, but I forgot about it. Then I saw my friend, Anood, who used to live in Mumbai and was back in town for a visit a few days before our trip to Sri Lanka. She said to me “you have to go to Paradise Road!” She said her mom and she went crazy over shopping at Paradise Road. I took a mental note to myself that I needed to go to Paradise Road!
When I got home after the meeting with Anood, I went online and looked up Paradise Road. Paradise Road was bigger than I thought and I was a bit overwhelmed with the information, but I noticed that PR stood out for me. I loved what I saw online. Thus, there I was. My family and I had one day to explore Colombo. The very first place I headed after breakfast was PR.
I hope you enjoyed my photos.

Lovely photos and a great tip – we are heading to Colombo soon. What were the prices like? Any other good shopping tips for Colombo? Or eating out with kids? Also loved your instagram updates from the coast and can’t wait to be there =)

Lattemama, how wonderful is it that you’re going to Colombo soon! My necklace for example was LKR 1,900+ which was about USD 14. There was a bag with straw handles that I wanted to buy and it was around USD 40+. They might be on the high end side, but there are things that are very reasonable. I found eating out with kids was very reasonable. It is cheaper than eating out in Mumbai for sure. Thank you for seeing my Instagram updates! I will post recommendations from the coast as well!

Great, thanks! I can’t wait =)

Happy New Year. I hope you enjoyed your trip to Sri Lanka, I was there for a month over the summer and loved it. I had lots of fun taking pictures there but, true to form for last year, didn’t post them on the blog. It surprised me that it’s only 2 and a half hours from Mumbai.

Anne, Happy New Year!! You should totally post your pictures from the trip to Sri Lanka! I would love to see them! You were there for a month!!! Lucky you!! I would’ve stayed in Colombo for a month or longer! If my husband gets assigned there, I will take it in a heart beat! I was also pleasantly surprised that the flight was only 2 and a half hours long!
