Lakme Fashion Week 2015
Lakme Fashion Week is the biggest fashion event in Mumbai that takes place biannually. My neighbor invited me to a Lakme Fashion Week Spring Summer 2015 which was my first experience with Lakme Fashion Week. The show about Indian textiles and it was amazing. You can see my post about the show here.
I have not been to fashion shows other than Indonesia Fashion Week 2013 and Bazaar Fashion Show in 2010 in Jakarta, Indonesia and Lakme Fashion Week 2015 in Mumbai, India, but I feel that fashion shows in India are very unique because of the styles you see on runways. The designs at Indian fashion shows must be very specific to the country and I find the Indian designs very inspiring and exotic.
This time at Lakme Fashion Week Fall Winter 2015, my friends and I went to the show by Nikhil Thampi and Payal Singhal. I hope you’ll enjoy the glimpse of the show through my photography
Nikhil Thampi
I found an interesting article about Nikhil Thampi called “The Accidental Fashion Designer” on dna (Daily News and Analysis). He made a move from a psychology graduate to a designer. It makes you realize that you never know what life has for you to explore.
Payal Singhal
Payal Singhal is a designer who was born into an artistic family with a grandfather who was a renowned painter and a father who is a fashion pioneer. If you click on her name above, you will jump to her website where you will see a collection of her marvelous designs.
Nimrat Kaur
The showstopper for Payal Singhal’s show at Lakme Fashion Week Fall Winter 2015 was Nimrat Kaur, a Bollywood film actress. It is always fun to find out who walks as a showstopper at each show at Lakme Fashion Week. Nimrat Kaur became famous in the world when she played a role in a film “The Lunchbox”. She also stars in Homeland, a TV series in the U.S., as Tasneem Qureshi.
I spotted Ragini Khanna, who is sitting in the center of this photo with a pair of white pants.
