Nice Kream is an ice cream parlor that makes ice cream with liquid nitrogen. It was my new friend who just arrived a couple of months ago told me about a Nice Kream shop that shows you a surprise while making ice cream at the shop and added that it would be a fun ice cream trip to make with kids. I was very impressed with her! I have been in Mumbai longer, but I had no idea about Nice Kream! I’m always looking for an easy way to entertain my kids, so one weekend day, I decided to take my kids out for a little science and dessert excursion to check out Nice Kream.
Nice Kream is a simple little shop painted in a pretty blue color that stands amongst other small shops like a donut shop, sweets shop and fast food restaurants. The street it is on seems to be the area that attracts a lot of young people. My kids were very excited about going to the ice cream parlor which I don’t do that often whereas I was excited to see the liquid nitrogen experiment in person! I was never a science person, but I find science fascinating and enjoyable if it does not involve hypothesis and grades.
Nice Kream lets you have your choice of a flavor, mix-ins, a topping and a sauce. My kids had fun thinking about what to put, but they seemed to be happy with settling with more of usual and familiar flavors. You check boxes of your choices on a piece of paper with a pencil provided at the counter and turn it in. Then, a chef behind the glass starts making ice cream. You get to see the process right in front of you which is really fun for the kids and adults.
The taste? It was very good. I would describe liquid nitrogen ice cream as a dessert between frozen ice cream and ice cream. What do you think?

You can make soft serve at home with the same method using dry ice instead of liquid nitrogen.
I saw this video of ChefSteps Soft Serve Ice Cream a while back and shared it on Chuzai Living’s Facebook page some time ago. I enjoyed this video very much.
It would be a fun activity to make a soft serve with kids on a weekend or make a pretty dessert to serve at a party.
Dry ice is safer and more accessible for home use as opposed liquid nitrogen which can be dangerous if it is not handled properly and with caution. Here are two articles written about the dangers of liquid nitrogen: “How Dangerous Is Liquid Nitrogen?” on BBC News and “Why Liquid Nitrogen Is Dangerous” on Time.com.
I hope you enjoyed the post! Have a great weekend!

How cool is this! I hardly wait to take my son there too. Looks so much fun ^_^
One thing I miss about Mumbai is Naturals ice cream. If you haven’t tried it already you should! I never ate such rich ice cream anywhere.

Laura, I hope you will have as much fun with your son as I did with my kids. I LOVE Naturals. I must say that might be my favorite. I agree with you. It’s fantastic!

Nitrogen ice cream are bad for health.it is banned in goa.
Kaho says
Oh no! Is it? I’m sorry to hear.
Jay says
It is the opposite actually, Nitro Ice-Creams are better for health! They have no preservatives, colors or artificial enhancers like normal ice-creams do. Normal Ice-Creams also consist of 70% air whereas Nitro Ice-Creams are dense and rich.

I didn’t know about these facts. Thank you for sharing!
