As a homework for the blogging class I took, Blogging Your Way Boot Camp, I operated a minor facelift on my blog. Nothing major, but it was a great way for me to reorganize. There is one more thing I need to add, but it’ll take me a while to do, so I’ll try to complete it in the next couple of months. I would like to add a “Blog Roll” page.
The screen shots above (Command, Shift, 4 on Mac) were taken on October 29, exactly a month ago. A month later, I took the screen shots you see below. It is the current look on my blog. What do you think?
Just looking at the two different looks, I miss the colors I had in the tag cloud. Orange makes the blog cheerful, but I had the color because of the fall season. I plan on changing the color once in a while to get the feel of the change of season. Right now, I’m in the mood of mint blue for Christmas.
Here are the changes I made mainly on the right bar.
1. Smaller icons for social media sites. I realize, I don’t have to have big ones and it is neater to have all four in one line. I love keeping in touch with people through twitter and Facebook. If you have an account, please connect with me!
2. My profile photo with a bit about myself. I always like to learn about bloggers when I first visit a new one. I thought that it would be easier for the visitors to my blog to see a teaser about me on the front page and lead them to the About Me page.
3. The Email address is placed higher on the bar below my profile so that it’s easier to be found.
4. The size of Blogloving icon box is made smaller and aligned center.
5. Instead of tag cloud, “Topics” is used. I might switch back to tag cloud as I miss the colors I had.
6. Photography copy right is much shorter than before.
7. I added Disclosure.
8. Fonts on the body as well as title and side bars were changed to achieve a cleaner and fresher look.
I like my blog to look as clean as possible and be user friendly. I do not like clutter. My goal was to achieve the look that is pleasant for the eyes and easy for people to navigate.
I wish I was tech savvy, but this is as much as I could do with my self-taught way to customize the look of Chuzai Living by tweaking the widget.
