Micky Tan, my very good friend in Mumbai who is a fashion designer, asked me to model for her new collection which she just completed. We had a photo shoot at my place just like I normally do for my Monday Mode posts. By the way, Micky is the one who made an amazing black lace dress with strap back for me last year. There is so much to write about her, but I have 4 more posts on the dresses she made, so I will save some for later.
I met Micky through my lovely Chinese friend, Diana. Micky is a Chinese Malaysian from Kuala Lumpur and a fashion designer. She has worked as a designer in Malaysia and Singapore. She’s also a mother to 2 little adorable boys of which the older one is my son’s good friend. Micky and her family relocated to Mumbai through her husband’s job almost 3 years ago. When she left Singapore, she had to leave her previous career as a designer and focused on raising her child. Then later she became pregnant with her second son.
Micky is passionate about designing and sewing. In her home she has lots of items she has created and I keep telling her that she should have a DIY or craft blog. I wish I had the same talent. She’s also one of the hardest workers I have known. She started working again shortly after she had given birth to her 2nd child. When I say that she started working, though, it is not in the same sense as going back to work. It meant that she started sewing again for pleasure. What inspires me about her is that she truly enjoys sewing and the way she works shows her love of what she does.
I had a chance to wear 4 outfits out of 6 she made. This blue sari dress is the very first one I wore and I actually loved this dress very much. I especially love the lace sequence top that I find absolutely beautiful. This deep blue color is not necessarily the color I’m attracted to if I were to pick my own dress, but when I wore it, I fell in love with the color. Here is the meaning of blue I found online.
This color is one of trust, honesty and loyalty. It is sincere, reserved and quiet, and doesn’t like to make a fuss or draw attention.
This is a color that seeks peace and tranquility above everything else, promoting both physical and mental relaxation.
It reduces stress, creating a sense of calmness, relaxation and order.

I should start wearing more blue, shouldn’t I?

This is beautiful! When I first lived in Mumbai I had my sari made into a dress like this so it was easy for me to wear when in the west. I wish I had more in all sizes because now I can’t fit into the old one!!
