I have had the craziest 3 days starting from last Thursday. On Thursday, I had to say goodbye to my dear friend, Maca, and her family. This was the moment I was dreading. I wrote about this in my previous post Hardest Thing About Moving. The next day was my husband and my 11th wedding anniversary and it was followed by my birthday, today. Thank you, thank you. I turned 35. Half way to 70.
Splash Park – Lyon Village Park
Last Thursday afternoon Maca, Maca’s friends (including myself) and their kids met at one of the splash parks in Arlington called Lyon Village Park for the last play date before she moved away. It was a very warm day and kids loved playing with the water. Splash park is easy for a parent like me who has a small child (mine is 2 and a half) who still needs a lot of parental supervising in a swimming pool. On top of that, she doesn’t like to be in cold water so much. On the other hand, my 5-year-old is like a fish and loves to play with the water. If I go to a splash park, I can meet both of my children’s needs by being in one place, which works out great for me.
Ray’s Hell Burger
After much basking in the sun, running around, and playing with the sand, we headed to one of our favorite burger joints joined by our husbands after work for a last dinner together with Maca and her family. We gathered at Ray’s Hell Burger’s new location called “Ray’s Hell Burger Too”. It’s the same burger joint as Rays Hell Burger in the same strip mall except that at Ray’s Hell Burger Too you are seated to receive table service in stead of lining up at the counter and order. Ray’s Hell Burger has always been busy, but its popularity went especially skyrocketing after President Obama and Vice President Biden went there for lunch one day.
Some of us had nice juicy burgers for dinner. The new location at Ray’s Hell Burger Too serves turkey sandwiches, vegetable sandwiches and smaller size 6 oz burgers which the first location does not serve. I had a regular 10 oz burger, which I swallowed. Yum! My older daughter had 6 oz burger and younger one had mac and cheese. Their mac and cheese is not like the one that came out of a box. It’s a real mac & cheese and delicious.
After Farewell
Our friends have departed and started a new chapter of their life. It feels strange to not have her and her family in this city. Strange how our mind works. I don’t have much time to be sad though. We are getting even busier as we are preparing to move soon as well. I like this part of our life. We have something to look forward to every two or three years. This lifts up our spirits after continuous farewells. This move is my husband and my 6th relocation together. I think we’ve gotten pretty good at dealing with business aspects of this nomadic life. I doubt that I can ever say the same about saying farewell.

Saying goodbye is always hard. It never gets easier either, sadly.
Beautiful pictures as always. The water park certainly looks like fun!

Let me see… it’ll be 5th time in 8 years. You win! 🙂
How does Ray’s compare to Five Guys’?
Kaho says
I’ve only had Five Guys’ once a while back and I don’t remember much about the burger, so I have to go back there to be able to make a comparison. I remember I looooooved their fries. I like Ray’s a lot. The meat is thick, juicy and flavorful.

We did go to Ray’s this weekend!! It was really good!!
But to be frank with you, I still like Five Guys better; yes, I think the difference is their fries!! And also somehow Ray’s got messier in feeding the kids.
But they both taste yummy!!!
Why does stuff that’s so bad for you always taste so good?!?! It’s fine just in a while…. right?

Oh, Kaho! I just saw this for the first time. So sweet of you to write about it on your blog. We had the best time, as bittersweet as it was, and heartbreaking at the end.
