This post is a collection of photos I took when I was in Japan this summer because they are the reminders of my being in Japan and what I like about Japan. I realized that I didn’t notice things in Japan as much as I notice things in Jakarta though. It’s probably because my eyes are used to seeing things in Japan.

I skipped a post on Wednesday and Thursday, didn’t I? Do you want to hear my excuse? I recently started jogging in the morning with my husband. By the way, I’m the worst runner. I’m like a penguin trying to run. He’s been jogging in the morning before work for a while, so I joined him recently. I now get up at ungodly hours that didn’t exist in my time. I’d like to jog when most people are still asleep or waking up and I also like that I get it out of my way in the morning. So, when the clock hits 10:30, I’m getting into bed. Therefore, it only leaves me a short amount of time to work on my blog after I put my kids in bed. I used to just sit in my couch that has my butt mark and blog and blog. Now I have another priority.
I’m not a fan of running. I have friends who run a 10K, half marathon, and full marathon. They inspire me, but I have had no desire to train for a long distance race. One of my friends suggested we run a race this coming December, so I decided to sign up for it. There are different distances for the races. I was going to sign up for 10K, but now I’m not sure if I can run 10K. I have other reasons, but I won’t go over that now. I know I have 4 months to train, but I am happy running relatively short distance like 3K every morning just to challenge myself. Even though it is a bit of a struggle for me to run, I hope to run a longer distance down the road.

Good for you, Kaho! I used to swim early in the morning before anyone in the house would wake up – but I haven’t since I got pregnant with the twins…
It feels good to exercise, doesn’t it? I need to resume swimming as well…
Kaho says
I swam when we lived in Austin, Texas. I used to go to the UT Austin gym to use their swimming pool. I swam almost everyday for 6 months and then once I stopped, I got out of the routine and didn’t go back. It’s tough to commit one’s time in the morning to exercise!!

hi Kaho,
always love to read your blog 🙂
I also just started running last year. Which 10K race are you going to join?
Bali has half 5-10k race too in October, I think..
Kaho says
Thanks, Fifi! You did, too? I’m going to Cambodia, but I’m embarrassed to even say that I’m going there because I don’t even know if I can finish 5K with my level! Yeah? Bali has 5-10K race? That’s gotta be hot! Are you going to run any race in the near future?
Fifi says
Hahaha.. yes, I’m thinking of joining the Bali 5k race this October. *finger crossed that I can finish the 5km run in Bali heat*
Have you ever heard of the jakarta free spirit running club (or something along that line..)? they are mostly expats who run regularly from kemang area, and around the ranggunan zoo every saturday/sunday morning.
Kaho says
I’m sure you’ll do great with 5K, but the heat part… That’s what I’d worry, too!
I just heard about Jakarta free spirit running club recently from a girl friend who will be running a race in December as well. I heard that it’s a group of serious runners and they run really fast. It sounded a bit intense to me. I’m not at that level and I’ll be embarrassed to show up because I’ll be the very last person who doesn’t even finish. 🙂

No more posts on Japan, please! I’ve been dieing to visit Japan since my high school days, and your posts are just pure torture :p (no, kidding.. please keep posting! Love the pics!)
Good luck on the running! It’s hard, huh? I can manage about 5 meters before I huff, and puff, and decide to go to the nearest bubur vendor. Hahaha
Kaho says
Heheh. I don’t look so much like running. I might look more like I’m dragging my legs. 😛 Oh, you should go visit Japan! I love their sweets. I gain weight there than in the U.S. because of the conveniently located convenience stores. So tempting to get something to much on.
Atri says
Oh bother.. If I leave comments on wordpress, it always uses my old wordpress blog name -_-” .. excuse the ‘ranting walrus’ bi, I had a strange sense of humour back then. (still do I guess, hehe)
Kaho says
Ah, no worries! walrus! I like people with a good sense of humor and ability and confidence to ridicule oneself, you know!! I’m like that!

The ‘karaoke fever’ is super cute 🙂
Kaho, maybe you can try running with music on, it will help a lot. Good luck with your race training.
Kaho says
I actually do listen to music when I run… 😀 I think I need more music on my iPod because I’m listening to the same music for a while!
