This year (and it seems that I repeat this every year) I had a slow start on an autumn festivity. I live in a city where October is the hottest month of a year and prior to moving to Mumbai, I lived in a tropical island of Indonesia for 3 years, so even though I have grown up in Japan, a country with four seasons, I sadly admit that I tend to forget that Halloween comes at the end of October. I love Halloween, though. It’s so festive and fun. I want my kids to grow up remembering their childhood Halloween being fun and decoration at their home, but this year, I did not get our Halloween decoration out until this past weekend and I almost wanted to not decorate this year. I just unpacked and organized our apartment a month ago and I was not in a mood to get a box out to decorate again.
However, I did decorate because we had some guests over last Saturday night and that was my incentive. (It actually works on me.) I don’t have much to decorate and I recycle the decorative items we have for years over and over, but I try to change up a bit every time I decorate using the same items. It’s hard to shop for Halloween decoration when you don’t live in the U.S. or in a country where Halloween is celebrated widely. Anyways, I lifted my heavy bottom and finally opened the Halloween & fall decoration box.
I also changed the writing on our chalkboard wall. It used to look like this. I found the graphic design on Pinterest and I pinned it onto my Graphics & Typography board. The pinned photo was taken from a blog oh so beautiful paper. I drew Halloween characters around the words to make it more festive. I love having a chalkboard wall for its versatile element of designing a room.

I submitted a Halloween theme photo for a contest done by Tulisan in 2012 and I enjoyed styling this.
Happy Decorating!!!

You would laugh and laugh at my pathetic attempts at decorating for Halloween. It’s quite embarrassing actually. :o) You have done a lovely job, though. I really like the way you’ve decorated your home. It looks so breezy and open – perfect for those dreadful Indian summers!!!

Oh no, I wouldn’t! Any decoration is fun for Halloween! Halloween is definitely one of the events that you can really do any decoration and it looks fun and festive! Thanks for your nice compliment.
