I never owned anything gold to wear before living in Mumbai. When it comes to jewelry I am a silver person and still am, but ever since we arrived in Mumbai, I have been tempted to buy gold. I have met other expats who started wearing gold after they had arrived in India. India has so much beautiful gold jewelry that it is hard not to be tempted to buy gold jewelry.
I have always loved silver jewelry. I don’t think I look good in gold. This was actually confirmed after my lovely friend Yumi did a color analysis on me (you can see the color analysis session at my place here) and I found out that I was a summer color person whose color palette has silver in it. You can see different seasonal colors on clothes on this post.
When I was looking for an Indian dress to wear for Diwali Holiday in November, I went to Global Desi by Anita Dongre, one of the most popular brands among expats in Mumbai. I was looking for something very plain and saw this cream color dress with gold prints. I fell in love with it! There was another one, a cream kurti (like tunic) with gold design on it, which I would’ve loved to get as well. I, however, went for this dress as I thought I could wear it on other occasions and in other countries. I love that it’s a westernized piece of clothes, but it still has very Indian features. It is fun to wear something that you don’t normally wear. I think that Indian designs rock gold like no other designs.
Since I have never worn gold on anything, I used to not own any good gold jewelry to go with the new gold dress. Then I met Pipa & Bella from Mumbai. Pipa & Bella jewelry is beautiful. I love the modern take on Indian design and the best of all, their jewelry is priced very reasonably. You can read the story of Pipa & Bella company here.
Anita Dongre has three different design brands: Anita Dongre, Global Desi and AND. I love AND (by the same designer), Anita Dongre. AND is more of a cutting edge modern and westernized clothes. I own a black tie-dye dress and gray maxi dress from AND both of which I love. I hope that you enjoyed this post. If you are a Mumbai resident and have not checked out any of them, I highly recommend checking out all 3 brands. They are so fun to look at!!
Happy Monday!

I love the dress and bracelet, you totally rock it! Yumi also confirmed I am a ‘summer’, but I am still really drawn to gold jewelry and sneak it in to my wardrobe sometimes.
