My husband and I went on a date to a fabulous French restaurant, EMILIE, in Jakarta last November in 2011. My friend, Julie, a friend of mine who knows a lot about Jakarta, but unfortunately has left the city this past summer, told me about her anniversary dinner at Emilie and that totally prompted my curiosity even though I have known about Emilie for a while.
If you have driven on Senopati, you must have seen this sign on your left (it’s one way).
Since our children and I could hardly spend time with my husband/their dad in October and November in 2011 and I was alone a lot with my kids on top of being pregnant, he felt badly about it and asked if I wanted to go out for dinner by ourselves without our kids. I grabbed the offer like a puppy with a treat. He gave me the authority to pick a place, so I chose Emilie. I actually attempted to make a reservation at Emilie for a Valentine’s Day date in the same year and we couldn’t. (We went to Basara for Valentine’s Day in 2011 and it was lovely.)
I love French food and the food at Emilie was phenomenal. The presentation itself is delicious and rewarding in the French cuisine, don’t you think? I was in the later sage of pregnancy with my 3rd child at the time and I was still queasy (in my case it goes on for the whole 9 months), so I wasn’t in a mood for a course meal. However, if one of us at the table wanted a course meal, both of us would have to order it according to the restaurant staff, so we went for the two full courses. Don’t worry, I wasn’t going to waste our money, so I did manage to stuff my already big pregnancy stomach with the mouth-watering food.
Every dish was a mouthful of delight. We took a bottle of wine and paid a corkage fee. Yes, I was pregnant, and yes, I had a glass of wine, and it was great. The lovely meal lasted almost for 2 and a half hours if I remember correctly. When the bill came, my chin dropped. I was warned by my friend that it would be expensive, so I prepared myself for that, but wow, it was expensive. I thought that we could have not had a meal like that in the States (of course, this depends on the state) for the same price, but I am not sure. I joked with my husband that we would have to live on rice for the next week and we’d be fine. Emilie is definitely a place you go for a special occasion and you are going to pay for the whole memorable experience. If you like French cuisine and are a foodie, I would say it is definitely worth a try.
Have a great weekend!

I enjoy looking at how food is presented whenever I splurge on quality dinners, pouring sauce using a teapot is the first I see. Must be a yummy eat 🙂
