This is a guest bathroom at our house in Manila that is located under the staircase. Because of that, the door is even shorter than my height. When we first moved in, we thought it was a door to a storage. I named this bathroom a “Hobbit Bathroom”. If you come over to my house as a guest, you would not guess that our guest bathroom is behind its actual door. I decorated the door with a wreath to make it easier to spot it.
When you move overseas, bathrooms are often times a room that you feel the need to update. All of our bathrooms here could use a little face lift, but since this is our rental home, what we could do it limited. What I did is nothing special, but it made a difference for us.
One creation or DIY, if I may say, I did for this bathroom is the curtains. Since the bathroom windows are on an eye level for adults and if someone passes in the backyard, you can actually make an eye contact from the bathroom. It would be nothing but awkward. Thus, I bought tea towels I found at H&M here in Manila and used an extension rod I bought at a Japan Home Center and hung curtains.
Voila!
What do you think?
I am still in the process of decorating our home. Little by little we make a progress, but our home is not complete yet. I am posting updates on my Instagram account. I plan on posting some photos of my home on my blog in the future to document my home making process here in the Philippines just like I did back in Jakarta and Mumbai. You can see the list of my home makeover under the tab Interior Design/My Home or here.
