Apartment 1B is a comfort food restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are two locations. The first one opened in Salcedo City in the heart of Makati in 2006. The second one is in The Henry Hotel in Pasay City, Manila.
Among many cool places that you can visit in Manila or in the neighboring areas of Manila, this place feels special to me because of the unique set up. It is like a hidden hole in the wall type of establishment that is tucked in in the middle of the city. When you drive into the premises of The Henry Hotel where Apartment 1B is located, it feels as though you have come somewhere outside of Manila. The serene atmosphere with the tropical greeneries, the white gorgeous architecture and good food all sum up the beauty and attraction of Manila in my humble opinion.
I have been to Apartment 1B a number of times and I always enjoy the time there. If you live in Manila or ever visit the city, I recommend that you check out Apartment 1B.
My friend took a gorgeous photo of this tree and shared it with me. I just tried to copy what she did. She took a way better photo than I did, actually… Thank you, Angela, for the inspiration!
I was mesmerized by this plant. Can someone tell me what makes the tree have these beautiful leaves or strings from its branches? I would love to know.
Dining Al Fresco
Due to the rise of COVID-19 cases in the National Capital Region of Manila, cafes and restaurants in NCR can only operate if they offer dining al fresco at the moment. It’s been hot in Manila, but if you get there for breakfast, you can avoid the heat of the day. You can bring your laptop and work as well. If you would like to escape the hustle and bustle of Manila and want to be immersed in tranquility of the Philippines without flying, this is a perfect location.
I’ve been to Apartment 1B with different groups of friends a multiple times to dine, but this below is the only photo of food I have. Sorry! Everything I have ordered was delicious. I like their breakfast options.
I loved their dalandan juice as well. Dalandan oranges are small green oranges widely found in the Philippines. It has a bit more sour taste compared to regular oranges in the U.S. I had it for the first time at Apartment 1B. It’s delicious! I also love Calamansi juice. Calamansi is a Philippine lime, or Philippine lemon.
How adorable is this tricycle ride made of bamboos?
This bamboo bicycle is a beautiful decorative piece here. I’ve never done a bicycle tour in Intramuros, a historical walled district in old Manila, but it looks like a fantastic way to explore the area once it opens up again. The Philippines has been working hard to be environmentally friendly. I respect the efforts that local people make in order to bring improvement and changes to our planet. Every little bit helps.

ABOUT MY FEATURES
In Manila there are numerous restaurants. The options feel endless. I’m not a food critique or a restaurant review writer. I’m not even a good writer. However, once in a while, I would love to introduce some places that other expats in Manila or out of town visitors may enjoy checking out if they haven’t. As an expat myself, I always appreciate personal recommendations from my friends. There are many places in Manila that I love, but I haven’t been able cover all of them due to the time constrain. Since there is no shortage of online restaurant reviews and food blogs for restaurants and cafes in the Philippines, I don’t feel the need to introduce all of my favorites. Thus, my features on my blog are simply my personal favorite picks where I had the opportunity to photograph. (I only write a blog post if I have my own photos to share.) I’d appreciate it if you could read my recommendations with this in mind.
