When I was walking in a mall the other day, the Art Work T-shirt store, that I have seen many times before, caught my attention. Unlike other times, I felt an urge to go in. It just so happened that I also had some time and curiosity won me over. Since restrictions on human movements on public places like shopping malls have been placed, they have been quiet and easier to shop. I’ve had more time to window shop since COVID started because my social life suffered during different levels of community quarantine measures placed in Manila. Thus, life slowed down and I have more time for things that I couldn’t do before. One of the perks in the COVID situation.
I walked into Art Work and noticed that all the T-shirts displayed seemed to have cultural references of the Philippines. The colorful T-shirts with witty graphics and stylish designs looked very appealing for souvenirs and gifts. They wouldn’t be a typical souvenir you find in a souvenir shop. Art Work is for those people who are on the look for something uniquely local, but edgy and stylish. The cool thing is that these are all designed by local designers. I love supporting local artists when I live abroad. I have featured some stores of local artisans in other posts in Mumbai, India & Jakarta, Indonesia in the past. Please scroll down for my blog posts.
Who wouldn’t love T-shirts that have graphics that make you smile?
“… There’s No More Rice?”
“Puso ng saging” (banana bell / Heart of banana)
“Tubig is Life” (tubig=water)
How cool are those tote bags, purses, coin wallets & notebooks? Great gifts!

The physical shop that I visited was in Glorietta 2 near National Bookstore. It is also close to the entrance to SM Mall from Glorietta. I hope this helps!
