Are you in market for furniture shopping in Manila? Here is one interior showroom that will be worth a visit.
Fashion Interiors by Paul Cornelissen
Fashion Interiors in Manila, Philippines is a place where interior design fans can satisfy their cravings. My Swiss friend kindly took me to this stunning showroom in Manila almost a year ago in 2019. It was a pleasant surprise to see such a gorgeous furniture showroom owned and managed by the Dutch people that is tucked in Makati, the business district of Manila.
At a glance, Fashion Interiors may look intimidating. On the contrary, I found it quite approachable and friendly once you step in. Truth to be told is that I may not be able to afford the furniture sold at the showroom unless they are on sale. However, I can always dream about furnishing a space with their furniture. The second floor of the showroom is used as a shop for accessories and some furniture. You will find accessories and furniture that are trendy as well as one of a kind there for sure. I have purchased vases and candle holders from the shop in the past.
Fashion Interiors reminds me of Koi Indonesia in Kemang, Jakarta in many ways. Koi Indonesia, co-founded by a Belgium guy, in Kemang is a restaurant on the first floor and a furniture showroom and shop on the second and third floor. It used to be my favorite place to be in all of Jakarta when we lived there between 2010 and 2013.
The showroom at Fashion Interiors are rearranged with a new collection every year. The collection in the photos in this post is the one for 2020. Some of the rooms with this year’s collection made me want to buy the whole room!
I hope you will enjoy the virtual tour of Fashion Interiors. Please be warned that this post has many photos!
BLACK & WHITE ROOM WITH ASIAN INSPIRED ART PIECES
This is the second room as you enter the showroom. It’s quite striking with black accent walls, white sofas and quilt like rug. The wall paintings with Geisha looking ladies will catch your attention, too.
GREEN DINING ROOM
I love the green paint they used on the walls. It was really soothing and beautiful. The artificial cacti pots added the trendiness to the space. The combination of raw and natural wood furniture and the dark green and some brown in decorative pieces created beautiful and peaceful space.
CORNER IDEA
GREEN WALL & WOODEN DECOR PIECES
The wooden elephants and the medallion-like wooden wall decor look stunning in this room.
METALLIC ROOM
This room felt super modern. The metallic chairs and lamp shades all create the futuristic feel, but the greens and flowers added to the space softened the ambiance.
WHITE, GREY & SILVER ROOM
Decorative items in silver create a contemporary space. Black is used as an accent color. Having white as a base color combined with white accessories allows this space to look bright even with the use of black.
STATEMENT WALL
I believe that the wall art in this room is the focal point of this space. The huge cacti match the wall perfectly on both ends. The fish on the coffee table look like they are really swimming there, don’t they?
CORNER CHAIR
BLACK ROOM
I wouldn’t dare paint all the walls in one room with black paint, but this room pulled it off beautifully even with a black floor. The selection of brown chairs looked refreshing since I wouldn’t probably pick the color brown to go with this room, but the chairs look great in this space! Don’t you love those lamp shades?
BLACK & WHITE WITH MEDALLION
The wooden medallion wall decor is the winner in this room. The turtle shells in silver also look cool. I love this white couch as well. One day when my son is older, I would love to own a white couch like this one in the photo.
WHITE & PINK
I never thought pink could look so elegant, sophisticated and attractive in a room until I saw this room.
DINING ROOM
ORANGE & YELLOW ROOM
This room is full of orange and yellow which is actually the colors I wouldn’t think to choose for our home. However, this room may have changed my perspective. A yellow base room never looked so hip and cool. I find this room warm, welcoming and charming.
ORANGE & IVORY ROOM
One may imagine that a combination of orange and black will turn into a Halloween room, but this room convinced me that they can be such a lovely feminine match. I think that the key is to not paint all the walls and have accent walls instead.
EDGY MODERN INTERIOR
I also loved this room. White couches and the velvety chairs are beautiful together. The wooden coffee tables and side tables soften the metallic cabinet doors. The use of green plants as decoration provide life to the space.
ROOM WITH WOODEN DECOR
When I saw the wall decor pieces, I thought of the “swoosh” logo of Nike. They also kind of look like hockey sticks. I’ve never seen anything like them and now I think they are cool. The soft and neutral colors are beautiful in this room which compliment the ivory color wooden decor pieces. The lamps are the same as the ones used in the black and white room with Asian art, but they look quite differently in this room.
WHITE INTERIOR DECOR
This was also one of my favorite rooms. The white wall decorated with white mugs is such a statement. The rug was also very unique and stunning. This room has many contemporary design elemrnts in soft neutral or white colors. It feels more feminine than other rooms and warm and welcoming at the same time.
NATURAL COLOR DINING ROOM SET
BOTANICAL ROOM
You’re getting close to the end. Thank you for sticking around! I think this room at the end of the showroom tour looks stunning and amazing. The room is decorated with many plants and wicker materials. It fits my image of the iconic Filipino design: green leaves and a natural wicker color.
CAFE LOUNGE
There is a cafe lounge located adjacent to the showroom where shoppers can enjoy coffee or some other alcoholic beverages. The manager said that it was very common to see a cafe next to a showroom in Europe. I think that is such a cool concept! Apparently the cafe and bar can be used for events as well. It made me think that it would be a fun place for social gatherings for women’s groups, school parents, and more. Please contact Fashion Interiors if you are interested.
This is Jan Krenn in the photo below. He is a Dutch manager at Fashion Interiors. Jan has moved to Manila many years ago and called Manila his home ever since. He is usually at the shop. Please say hello to him when you come visit! Thank you, Jan, for allowing me to take photos!
