I used blue as a color theme to decorate for my oldest daughter’s birthday party again just like last year. It was another sleepover birthday party with a slightly smaller group. Please click here to view last year’s post on “Blue Themed Sleepover Birthday Party”. It was the easiest to pick blue since I already had materials. I’m all about reusing what I already have.
This above decor is my most recent online purchase in Mumbai from The Label Life. The Label Life is my new favorite home decor shopping website from India. In terms of prices, the shop is more on the high-end side, but the items are definitely stylish and they allow “cash on delivery” which was a big decision maker for me. The cash on delivery service in India rocks! This Bull Head Wall Ornament was smaller than I imagined for the price I paid, but it’s made of metal, so maybe that’s why. Nevertheless, it is adorable and I absolutely love it.
These candies were for ice cream toppings. I did not fill the big jar with gummy bears all the way to the top because when you have children without their parents’ supervision, they have no self-control. Everything I put on the dessert table were sweets and these candies added more sugar to the table. I explained to the girls that the candies were for ice cream and wanted them to save them for that. However, some girls managed to sneak some out of the jars before the ice cream time. Needless to say, probably, these candies were all gone within 5 minutes. I did not know that pre-teen girls can eat like hyenas.
I got a lot of ideas for girl’s sleepover birthday party from “39 Slumber Party Ideas To Help You Throw The Best Sleepover Ever” on BuzzFeedLife. This article lists the most helpful ideas I have seen for sleepover party in many respects especially for goodie bags, decoration, and game ideas.
I originally wanted to decorate above the table with glitter balloons. The idea was good. The practicality of it wasn’t so great. I made glitter balloons after having studied how to make them by reading some blog posts such as this Gold Glitter Balloon Garland DIY post on Plum + Trinket. After I finished making them, I hung them from the ceiling. I loved how they looked.
The problem was that I made them too early. I made them on Monday afternoon even though the party was not until Friday. I started early because I knew my week was going to be busy and I wanted to be well prepared. On Monday night a couple of hours after I made the glitter dipped balloons and decorated the ceiling with them, a few balloons popped one by one. It made a mess as the glitter fell on the table. I don’t know if after the spray glue dried, that made the balloon’s surface tight and popped, or the balloons I bought were low quality and cheap and they popped.
Anyways, two days after I made them, only one survived. Needless to say I took it down. I thought about making them again on Friday, but I got sick on Tuesday. As I ended up in bed all day Wednesday, I became way behind my party preparation schedule. I had other things to prepare on Friday. Thus, I had to forego my idea to make glitter balloons to use as decoration on Friday. I also did not have energy as I was still recovering from sickness.
Anyways, here’s the DIY instruction on how to make glitter dipped balloons.
How To Make Glitter Balloons
Spray the bottom half of a balloon. Let it dry for 5 to 10 seconds.
Roll a balloon in the glitters. It is a messy project, but fun for kids to help out.
I would have loved to decorate above the party table with the glitter balloons and I was quite bummed that I couldn’t. However, I was lucky enough to find these pom poms in our closet which were the extra ones I purchased last year!
Decorating a party table is fun! I have one more party and Thanksgiving to go this month. November gets quite overwhelming for me. I should be thankful, though. I hope I can stay healthy the rest of November. Then, I should be good to go.
