You might recall my post on Koi Restaurant & Gallery in Kemang I posted sometime ago. They closed the location I posted and opened a new location on Kemang Raya in September, 2010. My previous post was more about KOI Kemang’s old location’s gallery and this time I wanted to focus more on KOI restaurant.
I took my girls to KOI Kemang this morning on Sunday as my husband had to work. Boohoo. I wanted to have fun with them and KOI Kemang was a perfect place to be. We ordered a whole bunch of food (we actually had more than I showed in the photos) and ate them all. Yes, we were three hungry caterpillars.
KOI Kemang is my favorite restaurant in South Jakarta, Indonesia. Ever since our friends introduced us to KOI Kemang, I’m in love with this place. I love KOI’s modern interior of their restaurant and the food is wonderful. For people who love having a relaxing weekend breakfast or brunch on Saturday or Sunday in a serene space with jazz/bossa nova music, KOI is the place to be in Jakarta. The people who work at the KOI restaurant are very friendly. Even though KOI Kemang has a very sophisticated ambiance, you always see families with small kids in the restaurant. The floor staff is very friendly and I feel that the kids are welcomed. In general, Indonesians love kids, so I never felt that my kids were not welcome at any place.
The owner of KOI Restaurant and Gallery in Kemang are a Belgian and Indonesian couple. They own another location in Jalan Mahakan as well. I would’ve loved to meet them and hope that I will have a chance to meet them someday.

The restaurant is on Kemang Raya No.72. If you’re coming down Kemang Raya from the north of Kemang, it’ll be on your right between Pertamina Gas Station and Jalan Kamang Selatan 1 with the “Rattan House” sign in the corner. Look for the red KOI sign.

I also have other photos I’ve taken of KOI’s food and furniture. To view more photos, click the Photography tab or here.

Woody interior ambience i like! Noticed the food prices are quite expensive, is this cafe considered upmarket?

Hi, Elaine! I love the woody interior I see all over Jakarta. The food isn’t expensive. It is cheaper than in Europe or the U.S. for sure. Alcohol is expensive everywhere here (of course for the religious reason).

hi, i stumbled upon your blog when i was looking for where to buy japanese sticky rice, i guess cosmo would have it, could you suggest any other place that i can look for?

Hi, Ardi. Thanks!! Cosmo might have some sticky rice. Other Japanese grocery stores I can think of are Kamome in Melawai (near Blok M) and Papaya also in Blok M. I think Kamome has another location (I think that’s what I heard) and Papaya has several locations, but I have only been to the one near Blok M. Grand Lucky has Asian food and new Lotte Mart near Ratu Plaza, which is a Korean supermarket, might have some sticky rice, too. I haven’t been there yet.
As for the New Koi Kemang location, it is on Kemang Raya No.72. If you’re coming down Kemang Raya from the north of Kemang, it’ll be on your right between Pertamina Gas Station and Jalan Kamang Selatan 1 with the “Rattan House” sign in the corner. I hope this helps! Make sure you’ll have their brunch!
